Description:

The Syria Justice and Accountability Centre (SJAC) is seeking a Grants Finance Consultant who will work directly with SJAC subgrantee(s) to ensure their financial practices and reporting meet SJAC and USG donor regulations. The consultant will be responsible for reviewing and approving financial reporting under cost-reimbursable grant(s), ensuring all grant funds are accounted for, and providing support to build the financial capacity of grantee(s). The Consultant will work remotely on an ad hoc basis with flexible hours, typically between 10-30 hours per month per grantee. The Consultant is immediately needed to support one grantee and may be support additional grantees in the future. Subject to successful performance, the Consultant is planned to support SJAC’s grants management on an ongoing basis for up to two years without further competition.

Scope of Work:

· Critically review financial reports for cost-reimbursable grants, including the supporting documentation for each expense. (Note: Most documentation will be in Arabic)

· Coordinate with SJAC’s compliance staff to identify any issues and work with the subgrantee to resolve concerns before finalizing and approving the financial report.

· Support subgrantee(s) meet grants management requirements, including explaining grant and USG regulations. Hold calls with the subgrantee(s) to explain and provide capacity-building support as needed. (Note: Most of the calls will be in Arabic)

· Maintain organized records for the grant’s financial reports.

· Other tasks as assigned to support SJAC’s grants development and management.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

· Previous experience overseeing the financial reporting for cost-reimbursable grants preferred.

· Experienced in Microsoft Excel.

· High attention to detail for reviewing financial reports and supporting documentation.

· Strong understanding of USG regulations (2CFR200), especially regarding cost principles, procurement, and grant monitoring.

· Experience mentoring and explaining grant requirements to subgrantees preferred.

· Fluency in spoken Arabic and English.
