Description of the position

Under the direct supervision of the Finance Director and the Global Partnerships and Surge Coordinator the Surge Finance Officer will support all Finance related processes for iMMAP’s Global Surge Tools, including the Standby Partnership Programme.

The Finance Officer will be responsible to ensure the support to Surge deployees when required and ensure the financial oversight of the finance, contracts and budget elements, in accordance with the established internal Finance tools, policies and procedures.

Description of Duties

  • Supervise and coordinate the provision of all administrative, personnel and financial support require to the project, ensuring that appropriate control reporting structure are maintained in accordance with the organisation’s rules and regulations.
  • Manage projects accounting and financial system, including the budget forecasts and projections.
  • Coordinate and act as focal point for issues relating to finance (including salary, payment of per diem, rent, hazardous, R &R, process of invoices and receipt of funds) for all Surge deployees.
  • Coordinate the asset inventory process, including procurement and reporting in established forms to iMMAP.
  • Manage admin/finance issues with iMMAP headquarters office when required.
  • Undertake other duties as requested by the line manager.
  • Draft all finance reports when required and budgets, when required.
  • Act as key focal point for all Finance related matters for the project in question.
  • Provide direct support to Surge deployees when required, including with iMMAP’s UNANET Finance Tool.

Requirements

  • Masters level University degree in Finance, International Relations, Humanitarian Operations, Project Management or relevant specialties/formal Finance certifications.
  • At least 2 years of experience as Finance Officer/Assistant for international humanitarian and development organizations (United Nations and International NGOs) at HQ level or in complex humanitarian emergencies (disasters and man-made) and development programmes is an asset.
  • A background working in not-for-profit, internationally‐focused organizations, and experience leading programs in risk-adverse environments is an asset.
  • Experience in working within a multi-cultural and diverse environment.
  • Experience and appreciation of Information and knowledge management and capacity building programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills which enables the incumbent to effectively communicate across a variety of platforms and continents.
  • Strong communication skills, including effectively communication and speaking and writing skills.
  • Strong organisation skills, very good knowledge of Finance procedures.
  • A background working in Finance departments and with budgets.
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel.
  • Fluent in English and French.
