1.0 Organizational background:

Centre For Domestic Training & Development (CDTD) was founded in 2001 with a vision to employ as many domestic workers with proper home care management skills. CDTD strived to professionalize an understand the challenges that faced this industry. Treating Domestic Workers with dignity and respect and fair pay was an acute problem over and above the stigma associated with domestic work. CDTD began a program in 2001 under the Domestic Support Services, which initially served 5 girls from Kibera. Sensitive to the needs of Kenyan women and the founder’s burden to change the sufferings of Domestic Workers, a Centre was born and registered as an NGO in 2003. Since then, CDTD has adopted numerous programs to change the landscape of Domestic Work among them being the National Shelters Network (NSN), Counter Trafficking-In Persons (CTIP), Sexual & Gender Based Violence (SGBV) with Domestic Workers Transformational Program (DWTP) as the focal point of CDTD’s work. To date, CDTD has transformed more than 10,000 people and remained a pivotal policy influencer in matters employment, labor rights advocacy, sexual & gender based violence, safe migration, shelters and counter trafficking-In persons.

2.0 Project background:

The consultant in this assignment is expected to map out vocational training centres in Kenya accredited under the TVET in the Ministry of Education. The functions of educational and training shared between the national and county governments as contained in Schedule 4 of the Constitution, with specific emphasis to Technical Training Institutes including Youth Polytechnics recognized by the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA).

3.0 Deliverables:

The main deliverables for this exercise is to;

  1. Create a database with vocational training services (centers) in the stipulated County’s (5.0) that are accredited by NITA. (Complete with contact person, telephone and email).
  2. Aligning the shelters close to the mapped vocational training institutions in each County.
  3. Enumerate the courses or disciplines of study that can benefit the demographic of persons within these shelters.

4.0 Experience and Competency:

  1. The consultant shall have data collection or research experience in Kenya preferably in higher learning education or vocational training institutes.
  2. The consultant should be able to design an easy to implement methodology in gathering of this data.
  3. The consultant should showcase verifiable testimonials with similar nature of work.
  4. The consultant should have at least a team of 4 personnel to cover the scope of work with one team leader holding a Bachelor’s degree in statistics, research and any other related field with 5 years’ experience of field experience in Kenya.

5.0 Scope of the event:

The mapping exercise will be limited to areas of interest within CDTD’s programming under the National Shelters Network (NSN) program in; Nairobi County;Kiambu County; Kisumu County; Kajiado County; Meru County;Nyeri County; Busia County; Machakos County; Muranga County; Laikipia County; Makueni County; Kwale County; Nakuru County;Mombasa County; Samburu County; Migori County and Tharaka Nithi County.

6.0 Requirements:

The consultant is expected to provide the CVs of the team leader as an annex and short bios of all the staff to undertake assignment within the technical and financial proposal document. Your budget should be as realistic to the scope of work and lighter on accommodation expenditures. One document not exceeding 12 pages (excluding annextures) shall be sent to the undersigned contact on or before the deadline date of submission.

7.0 Payment and submissions:

50% of service cost shall be paid upon presentation of an acceptable technical and financial report and confirmation to contracting after an inception meeting and the balance after the submission of an acceptable outcome report of the mapping exercise.
