DESCRIPTION

Summary

This role is an exciting opportunity for someone to help shape and develop the narrative around the operations of critical COVID-19 vaccination sites. VillageReach will establish high-volume vaccine sites (HVS) across countries in sub-Saharan Africa, beginning in one major urban area in a country and then expanding to a second country. Throughout the lifecycle of the program, it will be necessary to document the initiative beginning at learn, develop and evaluate stages, to scale and transition, and followed by replication to other geographies.

Essential Duties

To help capture the end-to-end process of the establishment of HVS, we seek a documentarian or a journalist with knowledge of global health, health systems, or vaccine delivery for a limited-term role (one year).

Responsibilities include:

Playbook production

· Document activities, approaches and methodology, related to the process and lessons learned, into a playbook

· Create a process for development of the materials

· Manage the full production process of the playbook

· Own the approach and work with program stakeholders to ensure that all key program phases and components are properly accounted for in the documentation

  • Conceptualize new writing products and documentation outputs to maximize insights

Dissemination

· Develop the roadmap to target distribution of playbook to key stakeholders in coordination with partners and internal team**

· Work with Communications Manager on promotion plan for the playbook

· Assess effectiveness of promotion plan and revisit targets for continued dissemination

· Report results to leadership team

REQUIREMENTS

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education & Experience:

  • 8-10+ years of experience in global health research and policy
  • Deep subject-matter expertise in global health security, infectious diseases, health systems, or a related field
  • A bachelor’s degree in strategic communications, journalism, public relations, or related field.

Other Qualifications:

· Established cultural competency in partnering with racial, cultural and linguistically diverse groups.

· Demonstrated understanding of challenges with working in rural, underserved and low-income context

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) and comfortable in a fast-paced technical environment.

· Is self-directed with ones work and can lead large-scale, high-profile projects independently.

· Must have English and French language fluency – both written and spoken.

Environment and Physical Demands

VillageReach has no private offices, employees work in a shared, open environment with task and conference rooms accessible to employees for privacy and meetings. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Due to the time zone differences between our Seattle office and our Country Offices and location of other global staff, US based staff are expected to be available for early morning meetings starting at 6am. In addition, our global HQ and Country office staff are expected to be available for late afternoon/evening meetings up to 6pm.

VillageReach has an established compensation structure that is based on the relevant market and internally transparent. We hire people into the established range based on one’s experience and education and considering internal equity. We do not inquire about salary history.
