Terms of Reference for the ABC+ Lay-out Artist

Background

The Asia Foundation (TAF) is one of the implementing partners of RTI International (RTI) (with SIL LEAD, and Florida State University) in the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) supported project ABC+ Advancing Basic Education in the Philippines. The project hopes to support the Department of Education’s (DepEd) priority to ensure access to quality education for children in the areas of greatest need. Further, the project seeks to improve basic life skills for children in the early grades specifically from Kinder through Grade 3 in the most linguistically diverse settings. The project is present in regions V and VI.

One of the objectives of the ABC+ project is to improve the access to quality learning materials. TAF through its Let’s Read program achieves this through the conduct of Booklabs. BookLabs are platforms designed to gather writers and illustrators to develop children’s stories under the guidance of established editors and art directors. This year, the project has conducted the booklabs in Minasbate, Rinconada, and Kinaray-a languages in Regions V and VI.

A. Scope of Work

In line with the above-mentioned ABC+’s activities, TAF is currently in need of a consultant who will conduct the following:

1. Lay out children’s books in accordance with format required (DPI, 5 mm bleed, total pixel size), and
2. Improve text placement of the children’s books.

B. Duration

This consultancy is scheduled to run from October 14, 2021 to February 25, 2022.
