Background:

Panzi Hospital and Foundation was founded by 2018 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Dr. Denis Mukwege in order to provide survivors of sexual violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo with comprehensive medical and psychological care, as well as socioeconomic and legal support.

Panzi’s US office is based in Washington, DC, and focuses on fundraising and advocacy to support the work being implemented in DRC.

Job description:

  • Translating email communications from English to French
  • Translating statements, briefs, and other documents as needed
  • Aiding in the planning, coordination, and execution of email or social media campaigns
  • Other marketing-related duties as assigned

Experience and skills:

  • Native or fluent French speaker
  • Preferred experience with translations
  • Strong English writing skills and communications
  • Interest in the topic of human rights, women’s rights, and DRC
  • Attention to detail
  • Interest in social media marketing is a plus
  • Experience using online applications such as Box, Notion, Slack, and Canva is a plus
  • Preferred location in the Washington, DC area

Commitment:

  • You are expected to dedicate 10-15 hours per week for a period of 6 months
  • You are expected to communicate with the Panzi team in timely manner.

US Applicants must be enrolled in a University or Academic Institutions in the United States. This internship is unpaid and designed to be educational in nature; please consult your university regarding integrated coursework or receiving academic credit. For applicants outside of the US, this is considered a volunteer role.
