I .About Muso:

Muso is a global health organization committed to early universal health care. We build health systems to save lives by reaching patients faster. To cure delay in health care, we’ve devoted the past decade designing, building, testing, and improving on our model. Communities Muso serves have achieved child mortality rates lower than that of any country in Africa, according to a 2018 BMJ Global Health study*.*

We currently provide direct service health care for 350,000 people in Mali, while supporting the Malian Ministry of Health as they work toward a scale up of Community Health Worker-led health care nationwide. We have also launched a new partnership with the government of Cote d’Ivoire.

As the global community strives toward shared goals of universal health care, child survival, and maternal survival, we’ve now seen the urgent need for Muso to plans to grow its direct service and technical assistance to new country partners. The global crises of maternal and child mortality are solvable, everywhere.

II. About the position

Muso has designed our work and research to directly inform and support policy makers and implementers around the world to build high-impact, rapid-access community health systems. In recent years, requests from governments and NGOs for Muso’s partnership and technical assistance (TA) have accelerated.

The New Country Engagement Specialist crafts and coordinates analysis and development of new government partnerships, support of Muso’s ambitious plans for health care delivery, research, and technical assistance. The New Country Engagement Specialist will conduct and regularly refine a thorough landscape analysis of candidate countries for TA partnership and/or direct service expansion, identifying countries where Muso is best placed to pursue partnership for national health system transformation. The New Country Engagement Specialist will lead outreach planning, stakeholder mapping, marketing, and communication to build relationships with potential new country partners with global institutional partners to bring proactive care delivery and world-class research to new geographies.

Over the two and half years, Muso has built a strong partnership with the government of Cote d’Ivoire, and has committed to serve hard to reach areas of the country as well as support the health system transformation at scale. The New Country Engagement Specialist will take stock of the lessons learned and best practices for the Cote d’Ivoire partnership engagement and refine a strategy for new country engagement prospects. Among the key deliverables the incumbent will take the lead and facilitate Muso’s assessment of the feasibility, interest, and buy-in of institutional actors and the government partners to support a partnership for national health care system transformation.

III. Key responsibilities,

1. Develop and improve new country engagement scoping process and evaluation

· The New Country Engagement specialist will undertake a review of Muso’s previous landscape analysis, revising and updating it.

· The incumbent will develop and document a new country scoping process

· he /she will lead and coordinate efforts across teams (Training and IT, Research and M&E, program) in order to build a robust value proposition for partnership, and associated supporting materials, with the public sector in countries of interest.

  1. Develop Partnership and Collaboration with Governmental and Institutional partners.

· She/he will develop and execute a strategy for engaging potential new government partners, which may include stakeholder mapping, targeted outreach, reciprocal site visits, and conference events. She/he will coordinate and support the efforts of Muso team members to contribute to the success of this plan. The New Country Engagement specialist will involve other team members, under the leadership of his/her supervisor, the COO, including the Country Directors, the Institutional Partnerships Manager, the Director of Research, the Development team, the CEO, and other programmatic and operational managers in the development of the new engagement plan in a participatory manner.

· The incumbent will build relationships with coalitions bilateral institutions, multilateral institutions, and implementing partners in the country of interest to secure buy-in and alliance for sustainable national healthcare transformation.

IV. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French

· Demonstrated ability to research and assess partnership opportunities and analyze the global health landscape

· Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively across time-zones, cultures, and languages

· Demonstrated ability to organize and manage partnership engagement

· Demonstrated capacity to build public sector partnerships

· Strong writing and editing skills

· Commitment to social justice and global health equity

· Flexibility and ability to adapt in a rapidly growing team and organization

· Ability to work independently

· Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment

· An advanced degree in public health, public policy or any other related field

· Experience in advocacy, marketing, sales, or management consulting would be a plus, but not required.
