Hours: 10-12 hours weekly to be agreed

Location: Anywhere with good communications & Internet

Unpaid: Unpaid Internship. No stipend. Only pre-agreed expenses paid.

What Young Peacebuilders (YP) Does

Young Peacebuilders nurtures peacebuilding passion and skills in children and youth. We do this through partnerships, research, projects, and tools that help young people build peace in their own communities and abroad. In this way YP helps prevent and end cycles of violence. We also help design effective child and youth peacebuilding projects, tools, and research for others. Our goal is to see a major shift in the dominant method of addressing contemporary conflicts toward investing in young people as peacebuilders. More at YoungPeacebuilders.com.

Description

The successful candidate will be passionate about YP’s mission and assist the R&D Director in developing and implementing our strategic approach to research, M&E, program development and training.

Responsibilities

Implement and help manage YP’s Research, M&E and Training activities

  • Collaborate with R&D Director to plan and implement YP’s research, M&E, and training activities. This may include, but is not limited to: developing necessary tools and plans, analyzing research data, and writing reports as needed. Support research design, activities in relevant areas.
  • Support the R&D Director with the organization, and administration of all Young Peacebuilders E-learning courses. Including but not limited to making content edits, troubleshooting, fixing bugs, checking functionality of links, communicating with partner organizations and supporting their online learning needs.
  • Conduct research proposing recommendations and way forwards on how to adapt courses to specific areas of relevant and current pedagogy, interests and target audiences.
  • Assist in the moderation and facilitation of online courses including discussion forums and communicating with students and helping to resolve any platform and accessing issues that may arise.
  • Perform additional relevant tasks when required.
  • Assess student progress and surveys as instructed by the R&D Director.
  • Create monthly reports including statistics on number of course participants, participant progress, tests grades, statistics and narratives.

Promote the organization

  • Coordinate with our Communications Team to support implementation of our communication plan to promote the organization to its donors, maximize public awareness of giving opportunities and promote the training program.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Availability to commit to the required hours for 6 months.
  • Currently enrolled or to be enrolled in a relevant BA, MA, or other advanced program (e.g Peace and Conflict Studies, International Development and Education, International Development or other relent Social Sciences, or research)
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, handling multiple projects with varying priorities.
  • Fluent in English both written and oral. Any other languages, are considered an asset;
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills;
  • Ability to deal with several stakeholders coming from diverse cultural backgrounds in the appropriate manner;
  • Results-driven and proactive personality;
  • Interest in working in an international, multicultural environment;
  • Passionate about YP’s mission with the ability to collaboratively discern priority objectives amidst shifting challenges and opportunities
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others, both internally and externally, to achieve the goals of the organization.
  • Desired but not required
  • Experience with Thinkific Platform or similar e-learning platforms.
