The Team

You will be joining a team of global supporters, a collective of proposal/donor/grant specialists, technical gurus, and co-creators in service to country programs. We are a horizontal team of colleagues on a continuous discovery journey of what it means to become Alight, supporting each other to deliver a better experience and higher quality of services to our customers in each country program.

The Role

As the Roving Global Support Officer, you will travel to any number of our country program locations to support Alight teams in achieving their objectives. You’ll be guided by and receive support from Gina Paulette and a team of other global supporters out of the Minneapolis office, respective Country Directors, and whomever s/he determines is key to your success. Simply put, your purpose will be to act as an agile resource to Alight country program teams in business development, program management, design, and special projects.

You’ll know you’re doing well if…

⁻ The country team is feeling supported and has some relief from the various programmatic and project related activities where you are assisting.

⁻ You are feeling connected to the country team and engaged with them and their activities.

⁻ You are providing key programmatic and technical support specially around business development

⁻ You unleash our teams to do the doable through Alight initiatives and special projects

Building a shared organization takes time and intention. We will always be becoming Alight, which means your work will evolve as well. Projects you may contribute toward include but are not limited to the following:

Backstopping & Proposal Support (estimated 50%)

Bring a spirit of can-do support, jumping in wherever most needed. Embody the value Bravely Be Better by working with the team to consider alternative ways of doing something, even if it is a small tweak. Assignments may include:

⁻ Support country teams in looking at their broader programmatic needs, coordinating with various sector leads as they build programming that is even more Alight.

⁻ Work with teams to build strong design programming.

⁻ Program budget development and support. Working with Program and Finance teams on core costing and budgeting.

⁻ Take the lead or lend a hand on proposal writing needs for teams as needed.

⁻ Support countries in developing road maps for donor engagement and funding, including developing funding and business development strategies.

Evidence Based/Quality Assurance/Learning (estimated 40%)

Engage with the Global Support and country teams in continuing to explore ways to better serve our customers, clients, and patients in identifying improved ways to utilize evidence, define quality, and ensure learnings are being represented.

⁻ Support teams to build on immediate “wins” that they can implement towards longer term quality design.

⁻ Work with teams towards understanding how to use customer feedback and learnings in not only the design and execution but throughout the entire life of projects and programs.

⁻ Engage regularly with program colleagues to frame needs with the mindset of continuous engagement of listening to our customers.

⁻ Work with Global team on research and foundation initiatives.

Do the Doable Projects (estimated 10%)

Unleash and engage teams to do the doable; finding ways to provide hope and be open to all the untapped abundance that is around us.

⁻ Identify and lead projects as directed (i.e. CM365, Kuja Kuja); this would include:

o Initiating conversations, listening, and holding generative brainstorming sessions with teams and the people we serve.

o Building on the “bright spots,” identifying projects where we can do the doable, bring joy, spark connections, and make an impact within the allotted time period.

New or Interesting Projects/Progressive Responsibilities –

⁻ You will be on a team with the shared purpose of making our services truly Alight, and you may also join in other activities or initiatives that support the advancement of the whole.

Qualifications

These are “must-haves” when you join Alight: **

We’re also looking for the following technical competencies:

  • 5-7 years’ experience in international humanitarian and/or development settings, emergency response experience.
  • At least 3 years of direct program management in the various countries or circumstances. Experience in a particular technical sector a plus.
  • Experience in Evidence Based, Quality Assurance, Learning applications, tools development.
  • Experience managing budgets and finances.
  • Excellent proposal writer, past proven success with writing, coordination, and submission.
  • Excellent connector who actively listens.
  • Understanding of BHA, BPRM, UNHCR and how they function as grants. European and Asian grant making welcome in addition to experience with foundations and private sector.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good sense of diplomacy and understanding of international global political issues.

Must be willing to travel 75% time.
